How to Deal With Marital Conflict

No marriage can be perfect and it cann't be smooth sailing entirely and there can be ups and downs at times. however sometimes the problems of marriage can be seen clearly from the beginning of the marital relationship while the other times the issues start surfacing after a long time of being together.

 

In a marital relationship disagreements is natural in couples due to different individuals with their own personal histories, ideas, belief systems, experiences.



Some of the below tips given by marriage counselor might help you in getting over with the conflicts you have with your partner.

 

• Setting realistic expectations from your spouse in marriage life can save both of you from getting unnecessarily hurt. Both couples should be aware of what we can and cannot do.

 

• Mutual Communication Play Big Role- Sometimes due to unrealistic expectations from our partner we believe that iour spouses should be aware of how we feel but it often leads to misunderstandings. Thus It is better to speak with them and not assume things you may not even know.

 

• Quality time - Spending quality time is most important to understand each other's likes and dislikes better. Sometimes due to occupied routine you can not realize that your partner needs you, thus better mark your holidays on calendar to spend quality time with your partner.

 

• Appreciate each other's efforts for making your life more comfortable instead of focusing on the things that they are not able to do. Both should acknowledge and appreciate even the little contributions at home.

 

• Always make sure that do not deal with any conflict angrily as it helps to keep things smoother and to accept the outcome of the resolution.

 

• Try to keep yourself occupied as sometimes an idle mind tends to overthink about small issues. Get involved in the things you like and enjoy to bring positivity to your life.

• Avoiding blame game -Blaming each other will not help you anywhere. Thus, instead, identify the basic reason of the conflict and focus on resolving it.

• Do some mistakes, let it go, say sorry, learn, move on and choose happiness over being right if it makes your partner happy.

 

If you still realize that things between you are getting worse, you may go for marriage counselling and talk to marriage counselor as it can help bring into light how the different factors tend to shape your interactions within the relationship and how they are contributing to your struggles in a relationship.
