Introduction

Women Empowerment is the process of increasing the capacity of individuals to make choices and to transform those choices into desired actions.
In all over the world women are working shoulder to shoulder with men. They are now empowered to take the decision about different aspects of their life and profession. women empowerment adds to the confidence of women in their ability to lead meaningful and purposeful lives. It removes their dependence on others and makes them individuals in their own right.



Women Empowerment: Meaning

Without proper education, women cannot become empowered. They need to be encouraged to go for higher studies so that they can contribute significantly to the creation of a knowledge society
The internet has opened the floodgates of awareness and knowledge and increased social interaction reach and influence of women. The liberalizing influence of the World Wide Web has broken all taboos, misconceptions regarding women and myths.

Women Empowerment: Benefits

    They are able to lead their lives with freedom and dignity.
    It adds to their self-esteem
    It gives them a distinct identity
    They are able to gain positions of respect in the society
    They are able to spend on all their desires and needs
    They act as capable citizens to make the country achieve maximum growth.

Conclusion: 

Women Empowerment helps to make the society a better place to live. If we want to bring about women empowerment in the true sense, there is a need for the elimination of the male superiority and patriarchal mindset. Also, women need to be given equal opportunities for employment and education without any sense of discrimination.

There are many incidents in a woman’s professional and personal life, where her abilities are undermined against that of a man’s; having an adverse effect on her overall personality and hampering her growth.
Suggestions
However, we are still far behind in achieving justice and equality which the preamble of our Constitution talks about. The male-dominated system of our society is the real problem which considers women as subordinate to men and creates different types of methods to subjugate them.
The need for us is to sensitize and educate male members of the society regarding woman issues and try to inculcate a feeling of togetherness and equality among them.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it can be said that the Government’s various welfare schemes for woman are trying to find their own place. The participation of woman in employment- government as well as private, in socio-political activities of the nation and also their presence at the highest decision making bodies is improving day by day.

Woman empowerment is the much-talked about issue today. With the steady increase of working independent woman, they have gained financial independence, which has given them confidence to build their own identity and lead their own lives.



Woman also balance between their commitment to their profession as well as their family and home. They are playing multiple roles of a daughter, mother, wife, sister and a working professional with remarkable harmony and ease. With equal opportunities to work, they are functioning with a spirit of team work to render all possible cooperation to their male counterparts in meeting the deadlines and targets set in their respective professions.

Woman empowerment is not limited to urban, but woman in even remote towns and villages are now increasingly making their voices clear in society.

Women Empowerment by Constitution

The Constitution carries several clauses and sections. They also serve to empower women.
·         Constitution are not gender specific, Means that woman can enjoy equal rights.
·         The word ‘secular’ means that women have equal rights in this country.
·         It guarantees social, economic and political justice for all citizens, including woman.
·         The Constitution provides freedom of thought, belief, worship, faith and expression.
·         The Constitution further promotes fraternity among all citizens and guarantees dignity of every person.

Protection and Woman Empowerment

IPC protects Indian woman against several evils.
·         Rape
·         Kidnapping and abduction
·         Harassment/ demand for dowry
·         Mental torture for dowry and inflicting physical injuries
·         Physical and mental torture for any reason
·         Molestation and sexual harassment
·         Human trafficking and flesh trade
·         Use of women as collateral for debts/loans

While it is true that women, do not face discrimination in society today, unfortunately, many of them face exploitation and harassment which can be of diverse types: emotional, physical, mental and sexual. They are often subjected to rape, abuse and other forms of intellectual and physical violence.

Let us hope, woman empowerment spreads to progressive areas as well as backward areas of our country.
